Fall back November 2014

Windy today, the first morning after turning the clocks back! Am happy to have more light in the mornings, but not so at the end of the day when the skies will darken as early as 4:30.  Oh well, December 21st will come quickly!

I’ve not posted in awhile. Lots going on — had an accident that shattered my knee cap.  A nightmare, as you can imagine! Yes, the pain was out of this world, and thanks to the doctors, nurses and therapists at Hospital for Special Surgery, friends and family, I’m walking on two legs again.  Been told the leg will never be the same — I’m just now over a year later, starting to know what that means.  One more operation to get all the metal out, we’ll see what happens then.  Oh well.

Secondly, the business I started with my sisters to design and sell stationery had to be disbanded. After a major investment of time and money, unfortunately the old sister stuff roiled to the surface and made a mess of things. Given that I’d had my own small successful stationery business previously, I’ll just pick up where I left off!  Just to rub it in, the reminder pads I produced in my previous company sold like hot cakes, after retooling under the new company made the art more prominent and the pads a larger size — can’t give them away — told you so!!

Those two untoward events coupled with a crazy work schedule — beginning a major fundraising campaign and broke ground on a new hospice facility — have preoccupied me, that being said, its time to move forward!

New Year’s Day 2013

Welcome to my blog! Its a new year, perfect for starting something new! This blog will be about things I like, things I don’t like and probably will be peppered with my very own personal opinions.  Not that my life is all that interesting, but just like everyone else, there are lots of parts to my life and it will be fun to bring them together in one place and see what readers have to offer.

By way of explanation, I am a mother, grandmother, professional woman with all kinds of degrees, a botanical artist with a faithful local following, a gardener struggling to keep things blooming, a very good cook and a community activist of sorts. See — not so fascinating — however life has batted me around a bit and in spite of the struggle, with a little luck and lots of hard work, I’ve come out the other side.

So a very Happy New Year — lets give this a go!   xoxo from  UQOQ
